Taxis in Tuscany
In Tuscany you book a taxi by radio taxi (phone) or app: regular Uber (UberX) doesn't exist in Italy. Many historic centres are ZTL (limited traffic zones), so taxis drop you at the checkpoints. Florence and Pisa have airports with a fixed fare into town.

How taxis work in Italy (in brief)
- You can't hail one on the street like in London or New York: you catch one at a taxi rank or book in advance.
- Apps: appTaxi, FreeNow, itTaxi, and Wetaxi call an official taxi. UberX doesn't exist in Italy; Uber is only available as “Black” in a few cities.
- Phone: every city has a radio taxi number, which you'll find on its city page.
- ZTL: historic centers are limited-traffic zones — taxis can enter, rental cars can't.
