There is no fixed municipal fare for the route to Lamezia Terme airport: the fare set by the Comune di Cosenza only covers rides within the city, while the extra-urban journey (about 67 km, 60-75 minutes via the A2/SS107 in normal traffic conditions) needs to be agreed with the driver before departure, or booked in advance with an NCC/transfer service at a fixed price.
Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL)
From 11 July 2026, 11 electronic gates have been operating, automatically checking ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone) access on several streets in the city centre (including Via Brenta, Via Ciaccio, Via Livenza, Via Adua, Via Don Minzoni, Via Scola, Via Molinella, Via Veltri and Piazza Bilotti), according to the Comune's official announcement. The Comune does not publish detailed operating hours or any exemptions for taxis online: before driving your own car into the zone, it's best to check with the Transport and Mobility Office (0984 813313) or with your driver.
Practical tips
- In the hillside Centro Storico (Corso Telesio and the surrounding area), many streets are narrow, uphill and largely pedestrian-only: it's normal for a taxi not to be able to reach your door, so it's best to be dropped off in an accessible piazza and continue on foot.
- The most reliable places to find a taxi are the Stazione Ferroviaria (Via Vincenzo Palmieri) and Piazza Bilotti, in the modern lower town along the Busento; from here you can also easily reach the civil hospital and the residential neighbourhoods.
- For the Università della Calabria (Unical, Arcavacata campus, in the municipality of Rende) it's best to book the ride in advance and agree on the price, because the campus is outside Cosenza's urban perimeter and the municipal fare only covers rides within the city.
