How to book a taxi in Sanremo
Updated: July 12, 2026 · Province of IM
To book a taxi in Sanremo, call the radio taxi at 0184 541454. Taxis don't stop on the street: you book them or catch one at a taxi rank.
In Sanremo, the Città dei Fiori (City of Flowers) and home to the famous Festival della canzone italiana, the simplest way to get a taxi is to call Radio Taxi Sanremo (Consorzio Taxi Sanremo) directly at 0184 541454, available 24 hours a day with almost all of the city's white cabs. Alternatively, Sanremo taxis can also be booked through the Your Taxi app, developed by Cooperativa Radio Taxi Genova 5966 and recently connected to the national ITN (Italian Taxi Network) alongside apps such as appTaxi and BTaxi. The major international ride-hailing apps (Uber, FreeNow, itTaxi, Wetaxi, InTaxi) do not appear to operate in the city: Uber, in particular, only offers the "Uber Rent" car rental service there, not actual rides with a driver. During peak periods, such as the week of the Festival di Sanremo in February, it's best to book well in advance, given the very high demand and the traffic closures in the city centre.

Apps to call a taxi in Sanremo
| Uber — Does not appear to be operational in Sanremo: the app only offers "Uber Rent" (car rental via Avis/Budget/Hertz) and automatically generated route-estimate pages (e.g. Nice-Sanremo), not actual rides with a driver - the direct city page for rides in San Remo returns a 404 error, unlike cities with genuine coverage. The launch of Uber Black in Liguria (November 2025, starting from Genova) was reported by the press as extending to "the whole of Liguria", but a direct check on Sanremo found no city page or any confirmed operating NCC (chauffeur-hire) drivers, as was already the case for Portofino. | Not available |
| FreeNow — Mainly covers Italy's major regional capitals (Milano, Roma, Torino, Napoli, Catania, Palermo, Cagliari); Sanremo does not appear among the cities listed on the official website. | Not available |
| itTaxi — The official website lists Imperia among the cities served in Liguria, but not Sanremo; the options for the city therefore remain the local radio taxi service and the Your Taxi app. | Not available |
| Wetaxi — Active mainly in major cities (Roma, Milano, Torino, Napoli, Alessandria) and integrated with Trenitalia on the same routes; no coverage found in Sanremo. | Not available |
| appTaxi — appTaxi's official "cities served" page does not include Sanremo. However, since 2026 there has been a roaming connection, via the national ITN network, with the Consorzio Taxi Sanremo's Your Taxi app, so indirect coverage could expand in the future. | Not available |
| BTaxi — It appears to be active only in a few cities (including Alessandria, Torino, Empoli, Bologna) and not in Sanremo; it is part of the same ITN roaming network mentioned for appTaxi. | Not available |
| InTaxi — The official website explicitly lists Milano, Roma, Torino, Udine, Genova and other cities, but does not confirm Sanremo or Imperia among the locations covered. | Not available |
Taxi from the airport
Aeroporto di Nizza Costa Azzurra (Nice Côte d'Azur) (NCE) · ~58 km from the center
Taxi fare: €180 (fixed round-trip fare charged by Radio Taxi Sanremo for the transfer to/from Nice Airport)
Nice, in France, is the airport closest to Sanremo (about 58 km, 55-65 minutes by car across the border) and is the one actually used by Sanremo residents, far more than Genova Cristoforo Colombo Airport (about 140 km, with a Radio Taxi Sanremo fixed round-trip fare of €330). Please note: the €180 published by Radio Taxi Sanremo for Nice is for the round trip including waiting time, not for a one-way transfer; for a one-way transfer it's always best to ask for a quote when booking. As a low-cost alternative, from Nice Airport shuttle/bus line 98 goes to Nice's train station, from where you can continue by train to Sanremo.
Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL)
Sanremo has limited traffic zones (ZTL) and pedestrian areas in the city centre, including some streets in the historic centre of La Pigna (where a project to pedestrianise Piazza San Costanzo is currently underway). Authorised taxis can generally pass through for passenger transport services, but it's always best to check routes, times and any permits needed with the driver or with the Comune di Sanremo (Sanremo's municipal authority).
Practical tips
- During the Festival di Sanremo (late January/February) the streets around the Teatro Ariston are closed to traffic and demand for taxis is extremely high: book several days in advance through Radio Taxi Sanremo or the Your Taxi app.
- To get back from the Casinò Municipale or after an evening out in the centre, the radio taxi service is handy since it's available 24/7 and because in the historic centre of La Pigna the streets are narrow, partly pedestrianised and subject to ZTL restrictions.
- Fares follow the municipal taximeter: €3.50 starting fee, €9.50 minimum fare, a €2 surcharge for night-time (22:00-6:00) and public holidays, plus €1 per piece of luggage and €29.50/hour for waiting time.
- For Nice Airport (the closest one, about 55-65 minutes by car) always ask for price confirmation when booking: the fixed fare published by Radio Taxi Sanremo is intended for the round trip.
- If you want to ride the cycle path through the Parco Costiero della Riviera dei Fiori (the former railway line, towards Ospedaletti and beyond), check in advance with the operator whether bike transport is available on the taxi/NCC vehicle.
