Taxi fare: There is no official fixed fare: the ride runs on the meter. According to indicative examples given by the Radio Taxi Bergamo cooperative, the trip from Orio al Serio airport to the city centre costs around €18 (about €17 to the FS railway station, about €25 to Città Alta).
Official taxis wait outside the airport's Arrivals exit (door 1). Since 2017 an agreement with trade organisations has been in force, providing a dedicated passenger pick-up area in car parks P1 and P2 with an agreed fare. As at any airport, it's best to only get into white taxis properly queued at the official rank, and to avoid people who spontaneously offer themselves as drivers in the arrivals hall.
Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL)
Città Alta e Colli is a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL) with electronic checkpoint gates (viale Vittorio Emanuele, via Locatelli, via Borgo Canale and other points). It is active on public holidays from 10:00 to midnight and, during daylight saving time, on Thursday-to-Saturday nights from 21:00 to 1:00; the Comune di Bergamo also lists around twenty other micro-ZTLs around the city (e.g. via Pignolo, via Tasso, the Gewiss Stadium area). Licensed taxis, being non-scheduled public service vehicles, are generally among the vehicles allowed to circulate in the ZTL to carry passengers.

- In Città Bassa, taxis can be found at the main ranks of Piazzale Marconi (FS railway station) and Sentierone; in Città Alta it's harder to flag one down, so it's better to book by phone or app somewhat in advance, especially in the evening.
- Orio al Serio airport (BGY) is only about 5 km from the centre of Bergamo: official taxis wait outside the Arrivals exit (door 1); avoid anyone offering to drive you in the hall who isn't queued at the regular rank.
