How to book a taxi in Aosta

Updated: July 8, 2026 · Province of AO

To book a taxi in Aosta, call the radio taxi at 0165 1876 or use the appTaxi app. Taxis don't stop on the street: you book them or catch one at a taxi rank.

In Aosta the most reliable way to get a taxi is to call the city's radiotaxi service, active 24 hours a day, or head to the historic taxi stand in piazza Innocenzo Manzetti, right in front of the train station. Since March 2025 the Comune has activated dedicated radiotaxi numbers, run with the support of the Bologna-based cooperative Cotabo, and since then the BTaxi app has also been available to call, track and pay for your ride from your smartphone. Fares are set every year by the Ufficio Commercio of the Comune di Aosta and are based on the taxi meter, with a fixed starting rate that covers the first 3,500 metres. Since October 2025 Uber has also landed in the valley, but for now only in the Black version via local NCC operators, not as a direct alternative to traditional taxis. Finally, watch out for the ZTL (limited traffic zone) in the historic centre, managed through an online portal, within which authorised taxis can still travel for public service.

Apps to call a taxi in Aosta

Uber — In Aosta only Uber Black is active, via local NCC operators (launched in October 2025), not UberX: you book and pay through the app, but it's a premium service with a professional driver in an NCC car, not a metered taxi. Uber has stated its intention to integrate taxi operators as well in the future. Available
FreeNow — No confirmation of operation in Aosta: the official free-now.com site doesn't list the city among those covered in Italy, where the service is concentrated in the main provincial capitals (including Milano, Roma, Torino, Napoli, Palermo, Catania and Cagliari). Not available
itTaxi — No confirmation of operation in Aosta: the official list of served cities published on ittaxi.it (updated 15 June 2026) doesn't include Aosta among the towns covered by the circuit. Not available
Wetaxi — No confirmation of operation in Aosta: the official wetaxi.it site doesn't mention it among the covered cities, limiting in-app taxi requests to Torino, Milano, Roma, Napoli, Alessandria and other cities not individually listed. Not available
appTaxi — appTaxi lists Aosta among the cities covered on its official website, but since this is a small city the number of drivers actually connected to the app may be limited: it's worth checking availability at the time of your request before relying on this channel alone. Available
BTaxi — This is the official app of the Cotabo cooperative, which since March 2025 has run the city's radiotaxi service together with five member taxi drivers: it lets you call, track and pay for your ride from your smartphone, as an alternative to calling 0165 1876. Available

Taxi from the airport

Aeroporto Valle d'Aosta "Corrado Gex" (AOT) · ~2 km from the center

Aosta's airport is located in the comune of Saint-Christophe, about 2 km east of the centre, and is nowadays used mainly for general aviation, alpine mountain rescue helicopters and seasonal charter flights, with no regular scheduled connections. Most people arriving by plane instead land at Torino Caselle (about 1h15 by car) or Milano Malpensa (about 2h30) and continue on by taxi, train or private transfer. There are no published fixed fares for the route to/from Corrado Gex airport: the ride follows the taxi meter with the extra-urban rate from the municipal fare schedule.

Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL)

The ZTL (limited traffic zone) of Aosta's historic centre covers via Aubert, via De Tillier, via Croix de Ville, piazza Chanoux, via Porta Pretoria and via Sant'Anselmo, with access barred to unauthorised vehicles roughly from 9:00 to 20:00 (loading/unloading of goods allowed 8:30-10:30 and 15:00-17:00). Since April 2024 permits and authorisations are managed only through the online portal ztl.comune.aosta.it; taxis in public service are among the vehicles authorised to travel through it.
